Container Load Plan Template

A container load plan template should preserve package IDs, final dimensions and weight, assigned equipment, orientation, count, loading sequence, distribution, center of gravity, floor and point loads, dunnage, blocking, bracing, lashing, photos, seal and VGM. Use the Container Load Plan Template in a Freight Decision

A result becomes useful only when another person can reproduce it and see its limitations. Follow this sequence before a quote comparison, booking, customs handoff or physical loading decision is approved.

  1. Freeze the final cargo and scope relevant to container load plan template; record the packing revision, origin, destination, endpoint and evidence date.

Is a load plan just a carton count?

No. A releasable plan also controls package identity, sequence, weight distribution, floor loads, stability, securing, evidence and unloading.

Why include clearance?

Mathematical floor division can use every millimeter. Actual loading needs room for tolerances, handling, dunnage and movement.

Can I combine several cargo groups?

This screen handles one uniform group. Mixed cargo needs a dedicated plan that evaluates sequencing, distribution and securement together.

Does the export satisfy VGM?

No. VGM follows the required weighing and shipper responsibility process. The CSV only carries planning inputs and follow-up checks.

  • UNECE – IMO/ILO/UNECE CTU Code: The CTU Code provides a global non-mandatory practice for packing, load distribution, blocking, bracing and securing cargo in transport units.
  • International Maritime Organization – Cargo securing and packing: Proper stowage, load distribution and securing are safety controls; inadequate securing, overloading and cargo misdeclaration create risks during loading, carriage and discharge.
  • International Maritime Organization – Verified gross mass: IMO states that the SOLAS verified-gross-mass requirements entered into force on 1 July 2016. It describes two verification methods: weighing the packed container, or weighing all packages, cargo, pallets, dunnage and securing material and adding the container tare mass through the approved certified process. Verified gross mass is a condition for loading a packed container, not an entitlement to loading.
  • International Maritime Organization – Safe transport of containers: The CSC, SOLAS verified-gross-mass rule and CTU packing guidance establish that dimensional fit alone does not prove a container is safe, accepted, correctly loaded or correctly declared.
