Use this pallet calculator to compare a uniform unrotated carton layout with a uniform 90-degree layout, then apply the declared loaded-height and gross-weight limits. It returns cartons per layer, usable layers, cartons per pallet, required pallets, remainder cartons and the last pallet’s estimated height and gross weight. Build a Pallet Plan That Can Be Quoted
The output becomes useful only when the same cargo version reaches the warehouse and freight provider. Follow this sequence before treating the calculated pallet count as quote-ready.
- Measure the completed carton at its widest, longest and highest outside points, including bulge, tape and protective corners.
- Weigh a representative finished carton and investigate variation across the production lot instead of relying on product net weight.
- Select the exact pallet type accepted by the origin warehouse, transport provider and consignee; enter its actual length, width, height and tare weight.
- Use the lowest applicable loaded-height and gross-weight limit across pallet rating, warehouse rack, forklift, truck, container, aircraft and destination rules.
- Calculate each identical carton group separately and retain the CSV with the cargo-version number and measurement evidence.
- Have a packaging or warehouse specialist review mixed-size layouts, carton compression, overhang, interlocking, edge support, stability and securing.
- Measure and weigh the completed production pallet, photograph every side and obtain a revised freight quote when it differs from the plan.
What the Pallet Result Proves and What It Does Not
The calculator intentionally uses a conservative, reproducible method. A high carton count is not automatically a safe or carrier-accepted pallet, and a different loading algorithm may find another pattern that still requires physical validation.

Worked Pallet Calculation Example
This example demonstrates the algorithm rather than prescribing a standard pallet. Four hundred by three hundred by two hundred fifty millimeter cartons, each weighing ten kilograms, are tested on a declared 1,200 by 800 by 144 millimeter pallet with a 1,644 millimeter loaded-height limit and 1,000 kilogram gross limit.

Pallet Calculator Questions
These answers keep the geometric result inside its proper planning boundary. The actual pallet, packaging system, warehouse and transport providers determine safe acceptance.
Does the pallet calculator use standard pallet dimensions?
It displays an EPAL Euro pallet-sized example, but you must replace every pallet value with the exact pallet accepted for the shipment. EPAL, ISO, North American, Asian and customer-specific pallets are not interchangeable defaults.
Can the calculator mix rotated and unrotated cartons on one layer?
No. It compares two reproducible uniform orientations. Mixed, pinwheel, interlocked or overhanging patterns need a dedicated packing optimization and physical validation.
Does cartons per pallet prove the load is safe?
No. Validate carton compression, pallet condition and rating, weight distribution, edge support, center of gravity, wrap or straps, handling equipment, rack and transport securing.
Why can the final pallet differ from the calculation?
Carton bulge, dimensional variation, separators, top caps, corner boards, no-stack rules, stability, pallet tare and provider limits can reduce the usable result. Measure the completed pallet and update the quote.
