Standard Pallet Dimensions and Carton Fit Calculator

Standard pallet dimensions depend on the named system and receiving market. The examples in this selector include the 1,200 by 800 by 144 millimeter EPAL Euro pallet, the 1,200 by 1,000 by 162 millimeter EPAL 2, the 1,219 by 1,016 by 141 millimeter CHEP North American 48 by 40 inch pallet and the 1,165 by 1,165 by 150 millimeter CHEP Australian footprint. Choose the required pallet first, then calculate final cartons against the lowest accepted loaded-height and cargo-load limits. Confirm the actual pallet condition, rating, ownership or exchange rules, handling equipment, racking, vehicle fit and securing before release.

Select a Named Pallet and Calculate Uniform Carton Fit

Choose a published footprint, then enter one identical final carton group, the lowest accepted loaded height and the accepted cargo load. The result compares unrotated and 90-degree layouts, records the limit and downloads a CSV.

Choose a named footprint, then enter the final carton and the lowest accepted loaded-height and cargo-load limits. Published values remain editable planning references.

Named Standard Pallet Dimension Examples

The word standard is incomplete without a market, owner or technical specification. These examples make the identity visible; they do not assert that a warehouse, retailer, carrier or consignee accepts every listed pallet.

Why Pallet Footprint, Rating and Acceptance Are Separate

Two pallets with similar outside dimensions can have different deck coverage, entry, ownership, repair, racking and load behavior. Freeze each decision independently instead of calling a footprint universally standard.

Choose Standard Pallet Dimensions for an Export Shipment

Start at the receiving and handling requirements, not at the pallet that happens to be available at the factory. Preserve the selected profile and evidence with the quote and packing revision.

  1. Ask the consignee, retailer, fulfillment center and pool operator for the accepted pallet system, footprint, entry, ownership, labeling and exchange requirements.
  2. Confirm that the origin warehouse can source the named pallet and that every forklift, pallet jack, rack, vehicle and container handoff accepts it.
  3. Measure the closed final cartons at their maximum points and weigh the same packing version, separating unlike carton groups.
  4. Set the loaded-height limit to the lowest accepted value across warehouse, vehicle, container, aircraft, route and destination receiving rules.
  5. Set the cargo-load limit to the lowest approved value for the actual pallet condition and all handling equipment, not merely the largest published number.
  6. Calculate the uniform layout and retain the CSV with the pallet source, profile, load basis, cargo revision and date.
  7. Physically build, measure, weigh and inspect the production pallet, then re-quote whenever bulge, pattern, top cap, wrap or pallet type changes.

Worked Euro Pallet Carton Fit Example

One hundred twenty cartons measuring 390 by 290 by 240 millimeters and weighing 12 kilograms are screened on the named EPAL Euro example. The accepted loaded-height limit is 1,584 millimeters and the declared cargo-load limit is 1,500 kilograms.

Standard Pallet Dimension Questions

These answers separate a named dimensional example from operational acceptance. The receiving network and actual pallet control the shipment.

What is the standard pallet size?

There is no single worldwide size. Common named examples include 1,200 by 800 millimeters for the EPAL Euro pallet, 48 by 40 inches in North America and 1,165 by 1,165 millimeters in Australia.

What are Euro pallet dimensions?

EPAL publishes its Euro pallet at 1,200 by 800 by 144 millimeters with a 1,500 kilogram safe working load. Verify licensed supply, condition, exchange and receiver requirements.

What are standard US pallet dimensions?

CHEP identifies its North American standard block pallet as 48 by 40 by 5.6 inches, shown in the regional table as 1,219 by 1,016 by 141 millimeters.

Can I use the published pallet load as my shipment limit?

Only after confirming the actual pallet, load case and lower limits from handling, rack, vehicle, container and destination systems. Enter the lowest accepted cargo-load value in the calculator.

Does the calculator allow carton overhang?

No. It counts whole cartons inside the named rectangle and compares only two uniform orientations. Mixed layouts, interlocking, overhang, compression, stability and securing require physical review.

Do export pallets need ISPM 15 treatment?

Many raw-wood packaging movements are subject to destination phytosanitary rules under ISPM 15. Confirm current applicability, treatment, marking and exemptions for the exact materials and route.
