Create a Reproducible Air-Freight Rating Check
A chargeable-weight number without its cargo version and rating assumptions cannot be audited. Use this sequence before asking why a carrier or forwarder result differs.
- Group only packages with identical final outside dimensions and record their exact quantity.
- Measure after export packing, pallet overhang, wrap, corners and protrusions are complete.
- Weigh the same package group and retain the scale or warehouse receiving record.

Is chargeable weight always the higher of actual and dimensional weight?
That is the core comparison for many air-freight cases, but a minimum, rounding rule, rate class, pivot or other tariff provision may also apply. Use the current service rule.
Should I add a minimum weight if the quote only shows a minimum charge?
No. A minimum monetary charge is not automatically a minimum weight. Enter a weight minimum only when the provider states one; keep rate calculations outside this tool.
Can I combine cartons with different dimensions?
Calculate each identical dimension group separately and preserve every result. Ask the provider whether it sums unrounded groups or rounds at another stage.
